by Mary O., Fun Match Chair
Despite the warm weather we had a great turnout for the 2000 Fun Match. Mary Donovan was unfortunately unable to attend, but she insisted that the show go on without her, provided we bring lots of pictures to the next meeting so she could see what she missed!
I want to thank the many volunteers who made this event run itself: Kathy Cummings for judging conformation; Mary Donovan and Maura for letting us take over their front yard, Denise Harris (food coordinator); Dee Brehl (raffle/boutique coordinator); the Hartneys, the Luthers, the Van Nests, and the Brehls (setup and cleanup); Jeanette Luther and Sile Barber (conformation stewards); Meaghan and Johnny O'Malley (obedience stewards); Jeanette Luther (obedience trophy); Meaghan again (entries); Jeff Luther (pictures); Karen Malone (show supplies); Gary Van Nest (demo dog handler for CGC testing); Ce Hoffman (gift certificates); and a special thanks to Bryan Conner for taking time out from nursing Ce to conduct our CGC testing! I'm sure I've left someone out just because so many people pitched in where needed, so for everyone else who helped out - THANKS!!! We couldn't have done it without all of you.
Back to the dogs: highlights from the Match are below, and full results and additional pictures are available through links in each section. Click on any picture to see a larger version.

![]() | Our first event this year was testing for the AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate. We had 8 entrants, and 6 passed! Congratulations to Ceili, Murphy, Guiness, Fionn, Kemmer, and Flynn (the wonder puppy). Also thanks to Bonkers the demo dog, lying peacefully in this picture in front of our newly minted Canine Good Citizens. |

Our next event was the Obedience Obstacle Course, which was fun for the spectators and the participants. Last year everyone passed because the rules were so lax, so this year we decided ... that was just fine, and we didn't change a thing. Every dog entered completed the course successfully and received a bag of doggie treats and a certificate of completion.
Kathy Cummings came
to judge our Match this year, and we had a great group of hounds for her to choose from. Interestingly,
there were no Juniors entered this year, so we were unable to award Best Junior.
On to the important stuff: who won? Here are the highlights:
Of course there was lots to eat (this was a PVIWC event, after all),
good things to buy at the boutique,
a raffle of IW items, and an auction of a bottle of
Jeanette Luther's famous homemade Irish cream, which for
once didn't end up in my refrigerator!
We're all looking forward to next year!
